Between tradition and modernity, Malaysia is a multifaceted country, politically, religiously, humanly and geographically.
At the crossroads between Asia and the East, this Asian dragon will appeal to culture lovers as well as nature lovers, history lovers and sports fans. Today we will show you some of our favorite places that you can visit in Malaysia during your internship with Come & Go.
Kuala Lumpur :
If you are traveling in Southeast Asia, there is a good chance that you will pass through Kuala Lumpur. At least by one of its two airports because it is, along with Bangkok, an essential logistics platform in this part of the world.
We’d recommend that you visit Petronas towers, the KL Tower or Menara Tower, the Indian Quarter, Chinatown and finally the Bird Park.
Batu caves :
Located in the north of Kuala Lumpur, the caves are the site of an iconic Hindu temple and shrine. The site is known for its huge statue of the Hindu god Murugan (or Kârttikeya, the god of war). Its 272 steps lead to a magnificent view of the city and the surroundings, and the many monkeys that have made Batu caves their home. If you want to have a deeper experience of cave discovery in general, you should take one of the climbing trails located in the Batu Caves. The photos will prove to be one of the most beautiful things you’ll see during your stay in Malaysia !
Penang :
The state of Penang has the specificity of being separated by the Penang Strait. It gives an island part where the capital Georgetown is located and a mainland. It has a rich cultural and natural heritage. The city center of the capital of Penang, Georgetown, was even declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.The cultural and architectural heritage is very rich in Penang.
If you visit Malaysia, the Koke Lok Si Temple is a must. Dating from 1890, the temple has the distinction of being one of the largest among the Buddhist buildings in Southeast Asia. And is nicknamed \”the temple of 10,000 Buddhas\”. The Snake temple is one of the places that most arouses the curiosity of visitors. As the name suggests, it is a temple dedicated to snakes. Built in 1850, this Chinese temple was originally erected in honor of the monk Chor Soo Kong. In order to follow the Taoist tradition. It is one of the three pillars of Chinese thought.
The Perhentian Islands :
The Perhentian Islands (Pulau Perhentian in Malaysian) are located near the coast of peninsular Malaysia, in the South China Sea. They are among the best places in Malaysia to relax, enjoy the beach and snorkel ! Dreamy beaches, fine sand, turquoise blue sea at 30°, deserted island, no cars. We could go on for hours about the various stunning aspects of the Perhentian Islands. To get to Perhentian Island, you will have to take the boat from Kuala Besut. It’ll last about half an hour but sometimes it can be a little bit more. There are multiple agencies that sell tickets to Kuala Besut near the jetty. The fare is 70 ringgits for the round trip.
Malacca :
The Strait of Malacca was indeed a strategic stake coveted by the European powers. It mades the city an important port as of the 16th century (it is besides the oldest port of Malaysia since it was founded at the beginning of the 15th) whereas Malacca was still only a Sultanate. The city has been listed as World Heritage by Unesco since 2008.
Begin your exploration around Town Square or Dutch Square and Christ Church, the focal points for the heritage site. The crowning glory of Dutch Square is Stadthuys, the town hall and the governor\’s residence of a somewhat odd salmon-pink color. Near Stadthuys there is the clock tower, which maintains a brightly colored theme. Right in front of these two important buildings there is a range of trishaws. The trishaw (or rickshaw) in Malacca, and throughout Malaysia, is an old mode of transportation.
